Roland Antiques has been family owned and operated since 1975, and through the years we’ve learned that our relationships with customers are key. Our merchandise comes from the finest estates and consignors not only within and around New York, but also from around the world. At Roland, we understand that all buyers are seeking something different, and we do our best to cater to everyone’s needs with a variety of ways in which you can buy from us.
How It Works
When the live auction begins, the auctioneer starts with Lot 1, and sells in lot order at a rate of approximately 100 lots per hour, averaging slightly more than thirty seconds per lot. Sales often last the entire day.
We accept bids from live bidders in the room, absentee bidders, telephone bidders, and proxy bids through LiveAuctioneers. When the auctioneer feels that bidding has slowed sufficiently, he declares the item sold, and the high bid (plus 25% buyer’s premium) is the purchase price.
Bidding priority works as follows:
- Absentee Bids placed through our gallery (absentee bid form).
- Live bids placed by bidders in the saleroom.
- Telephone bids (telephone bid form).
- Proxy bids through LiveAuctioneers (or other online bidding platforms).
The LiveAuctioneers console allows you to see what the current asking price is, and to bid live. There is no video stream, but messages are sent through the platform with the current price and asking price. Bidding moves very quickly, so please be prepared in advance if you wish to bid on a lot, as it may only be open for a few seconds.
At the conclusion of the sale, invoices are sent to successful bidders. We accept cash, check, wire transfer, credit card, and PayPal. Shipping is handled through a third party. For shipping quotes, please contact email@example.com and tell them what lot numbers you are interested in. You are also free to use your preferred shipper, or have an authorized agent pick your lots up for you. Any items picked up in our gallery are subject to 8.875% New York City sales tax.
We ask that all shipping arrangement be made within three business days after the sale. On the fourth day, items may be transferred to an off-site storage facility and subject to additional storage and transportation charges.
If there are any further questions, feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the gallery +1-212-260-2000.
